Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Campus Dining Services in the operational leadership of assigned dining locations and support functions. The position ensures that assigned operations support the mission of the University of Missouri, align with the priorities of Campus Dining Services, and deliver safe, consistent, high-quality service in a financially responsible manner. The role also contributes to broader department-wide alignment by helping uphold operational standards, supporting cross-functional collaboration, and reinforcing consistency across Campus Dining Services locations.

This position provides day-to-day operational oversight for assigned dining locations, including cafes, Student Center operations, Restaurants at Southwest (RSW), and Rollins. The role is responsible for service execution, food quality, labor and financial performance, manager development, and operational consistency across diverse dining concepts. This role is expected to actively partner with peer leaders to address cross-unit operational issues, reinforce shared standards, and ensure that expectations are executed consistently across Campus Dining Services, not solely within assigned areas.

This position assists with setting the strategic direction of Campus Dining Services operations and participates in developing, communicating, coordinating, and evaluating departmental plans, priorities, and initiatives across assigned units while supporting alignment and shared accountability across the broader department.

Duties include:
* Assist in planning, organizing, coordinating, and executing operational and strategic plans for Campus Dining Services, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental goals, objectives, policies, procedures, standards, assessment measures, budgets, and marketing or communication efforts related to assigned operations and broader departmental priorities.
* Assist in organizing and managing personnel functions within assigned Campus Dining Services operations; supervise and support full-time staff, management personnel, administrative/professional employees, and student employees working in assigned dining locations, while reinforcing consistent expectations and accountability across the broader department.
* Oversee the financial performance of assigned Campus Dining Services operations by actively managing labor, cost of goods sold (COGS), and other controllable expenses. Analyze staffing models, schedules, purchasing practices, and operating results to ensure costs align with business levels, service expectations, and established financial targets. Proactively identify variances, direct corrective action, hold managers accountable for financial performance, and provide regular weekly reporting and updates on labor, food cost, and operational results.
* Maintain effective communication with dining staff, students, University partners, campus stakeholders, and vendors to ensure aligned service delivery, operational consistency, and responsiveness to customer and departmental needs across Campus Dining Services.
* Ensure Campus Dining Services customer service objectives are met by continuously reviewing operations, staffing models, service flow, food quality, and food safety compliance to maximize effectiveness, protect the guest experience, and ensure adherence to departmental standards.
* Work closely with management staff across assigned Campus Dining Services operations to ensure all operational procedures, food safety and sanitation standards, and quality benchmarks are consistently executed and enforced, resulting in efficient, safe, and high-quality food production and service across all units.
* Collaborate with management and support staff to oversee computerized food production, menu management, and inventory systems to ensure appropriate product availability, accurate forecasting, minimal waste, and efficient use of resources across assigned Campus Dining Services operations, while supporting consistent execution and financial stewardship.
* Ensure the effective use of management information systems related to purchasing, inventory, pricing, production, merchandising, marketing, and service delivery to support operational and financial goals, drive participation and sales, and maintain fiscal responsibility across assigned Campus Dining Services operations.
* Ensure management staff appropriately supervise students participating in academic courses, internships, or experiential learning activities that take place within Campus Dining Services operations and support instructional or applied learning experiences.
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities related to Campus Dining Services operations, leadership, food service trends, customer service, safety, and operational excellence.
* Perform other duties as assigned in support of Campus Dining Services.
