HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II to perform data collection by conducting research interviews. Recruits and screens subjects for research studies. Collects baseline and follow up data from subjects.

This position will be in support the Complex Exposure Threats Center of Excellence (CETCE) at the VA Medical Center in Washington, DC. The Clinical Research Assistant II will support the center's research portfolio focused on environmental exposures and health outcomes, by contributing to active research enrollment, data collection, data analysis, regulatory compliance, and data quality assurance.

  • Screen and enroll research subjects; conduct recruitment, baseline assessments, and follow up data collection in accordance with study protocols.
  • Ensure accuracy and validity of collected data and maintain compliance with quality assurance standards and clinical relevance requirements.
  • Perform timely and accurate data entry; maintain organized data collection records, logs, and inventories.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and complete project documentation, including logbooks, inventory records, and study files.
  • Create, maintain, and update study databases; upload and manage data within electronic data capture platforms.
  • Process, label, track, and prepare study devices for storage and shipment; ensure proper chain of custody procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of research supplies and organization.
  • Conduct basic data analysis and assist with interpretation of results under supervision.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary research team; attend regular team meetings with investigators, laboratory staff, fellows, and collaborators.
  • Assist with preparation of manuscripts, reports, presentations, and other scientific materials, including editing, formatting, and distribution to collaborators as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, including participation in required training related to the role.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Psychology, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience in a research environment is highly preferred.
  • Prior military service and/or experience working within military settings highly preferred.
  • General understanding of clinical research and related scientific principles and procedures are highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively and meet project deadlines.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.
  • Ability to obtain a Without Compensation (WOC) appointment with the DC VA Medical Center.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay range for this position is $22.16-$27.48. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
