Job Description

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Full Time Interventional Radiologist at The Audie. L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, TX.

Position Highlights:

    Full Time - 40 hours per week
  • Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (excluding On-Call)
  • Fully insured patient population

  • On Call responsibilities

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Graduated from a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association or Permanent Certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
  • Experience: a minimum experience of two (2) yearswithin the last three (3) years routinely practicing as a Physician Radiology/Interventional Radiology. Residency and fellowship time counts as practicing experience.
  • License: Valid unrestricted lisence.
  • Certification: BLS and Board Certification in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology

Clinical Scope

  • Direct Patient Care 90 %
  • Shall be responsible for providing (Interventional) Radiology procedures, including, but not limited: Drainage Procedure/image cath fluid collection, Artery x-rays arm/leg(Angiogram)/Place catheter in vein, Repair of tunnel central venous catheter/Venogram, Echo guide with Biopsy/Exploration of abdomen, Insert tunneled cv cath (PORT placement or removal)/ Repair of tunnel central venous catheter, Fistulogram/Insertion/Removal, Lung Biopsy, Percutaneous chest tube insertion, Angioplasty with stenting/Trluml balo angiop addl artery, TACE (Embolization), IVC Filter, Cryoablation Kidney Tumor.
  • Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
  • Shall provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for Interventional radiologic procedures so that the most expeditious and clinically appropriate work-up can be done.
  • Shall determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
  • Shall provide review of consults/orders and next- day patient cases for minimum of one hour daily.
  • Shall provide post-procedure evaluation and follow-up and clinical consultations
