The Spiff Technical Architect is a trusted thought leader, combining technical and functional expertise to deliver exceptional results for customers and partners within the Salesforce Spiff ecosystem. This individual plays a pivotal role in shaping and leading Salesforce Spiff projects, driving successful implementations, and ensuring that customers realize their goals.

The Spiff Technical Architect successfully designs and manages the delivery of complex Salesforce Spiff solutions for our customers. These technologies include - but are not necessarily limited to - Salesforce products and APIs, Data360 and data management technologies, and iPaaS, integration, and ETL technologies.

The Spiff Technical Architect is both a big-picture thinker and an in-depth problem solver, with knowledge and skills that are both broad and deep. They take pride in designing systems that stand up to high volumes and won't fail at critical points. They bring a strong mix of technical and enterprise skills when it comes to architecting solutions that are built for the long term and will scale seamlessly with customer growth plans. They have proven experience integrating systems via APIs as well as a strong development background.

The Spiff Technical Architect also collaborates across the organization to develop client-specific proposals, staffing plans, and statements of work (SOWs). They champion best practices, develop shared assets, and align on global initiatives that propel the Salesforce Spiff community forward.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to define requirements, deliverables, and set and manage expectations
  • Translate business requirements into well-architected solutions that best leverage the Salesforce platform
  • Lead technical design sessions; architect and document technical solutions aligned with client business objectives; identify gaps between client's current and desired end states
  • Provide oversight and governance of Salesforce Spiff projects
  • Follow and help define integration standards; lead code reviews during projects to ensure quality and appropriate integration patterns are followed
  • Manage the technical delivery of custom development, integrations, and data migration elements of a Salesforce Spiff implementation
  • Maintain a target billable utilization aligned to the role
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across project implementations
  • Participate in pre-sales activities including discovery sessions, technical deep-dives, and Proof-of-Concept (POC) development with prospects
  • Liaise with Salesforce product teams to support client implementations
Basic Qualifications & Skills
  • Demonstrable experience in technical design and delivery of Software-as-a-Service platforms
  • Hands-on technical consulting and solution implementation experience for a major software domain (e.g., CRM, ERP, HR), as well as coding experience in object-oriented languages
  • Deep knowledge of APIs, SQL/SOQL, data distribution, data modeling, and data integration concepts
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce Spiff or a comparable enterprise Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) tool (e.g., Xactly, SAP/CallidusCloud, Varicent)
  • 10+ years in data architecture or consulting, with solution design and project delivery experience
  • Expert-level skills in iPaaS automation platforms such as Workato, MuleSoft, Informatica, or Zapier
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce products
  • Experience executing data strategies, landscape architecture assessments, and technical proof-of-concepts
  • Familiarity with SDLC methodologies including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
  • Executive-level oral and written communication skills, including technical documentation; ability to conceptualize and communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to scope, define, and manage work packages; support pre-sales qualification with solution validation
  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on core competencies for the role (e.g., extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience)
  • Available to travel regionally depending on customer needs
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven ability to gather and analyze ICM and Revenue Recognition requirements, designing flexible and scalable solutions
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale implementations involving complex data architectures and multi-system integrations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to work independently as a self-starter
  • Knowledge of languages such as Python or JavaScript for handling complex data transformations
  • Education: BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

The typical base salary range for this position is $171,200 - $273,000 annually There is a different range applicable to specific work locations. In California and New York, and select cities in the metropolitan areas of Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and Washington DC, the base pay range for this role in those locations is $205,800 - $298,400 per year.
