Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE: Operate as a member of the North America Sales leadership team to maximize short- and long-term sales, profitability, and performance towards Branch goals. Coach, mentor and develop sales professionals to achieve maximum results. Accomplish Branch objectives and responsibilities as needed, leveraging broad and impactful servant leadership skills. CORE DUTIES 1. Gain understanding of company goals and objectives to help drive change, striving to develop strategic leadership skills. Effectively communicate initiatives and expectations to diverse and cross-functional internal stakeholders. 2. In collaboration with the senior management team, broadly monitor regional performance, developing clear action plans to optimize team efficiencies. 3. Demonstrate accountability to effectively manage and support regional teams, including hiring, training, and coaching. 4. With support for senior management, build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. 5. Utilize coaching and training programs which foster sales team evolution and advancement. 6. Regionally manage pricing and sales programs to maximize results. 7. Identify and develop key accounts and relationships in combination with sales teams. 8. Be a consistent, active, and positive contributor to the management team. 9. Facilitate collaboration between client reps and internal stakeholders. 10. Act as a liaison for client representatives by summarizing sales activity and reporting information back internally. Proactively drive towards potential solutions 11. Work directly with the Manager, NA Marketing to maximize all aspects of the sales and marketing working relationship. 12. Acquire knowledge of Branch operations and provide observations and feedback to shift strategies, as necessary. 13. Follow-up with clients as it relates to marketing activities and solicit feedback. 14. Design, implement and communicate a coordinated business plan for the territory that reflects Promega's corporate initiatives. Mindfully pivot and re-adjust strategy as appropriate by working with senior management. 15. In collaboration with senior management and F&A, develop a quarterly and yearly sales and expense forecast for the assigned region. 16. Incorporate the Core ESI Principles in their position (check in with yourself, listen with empathy, enhance self-esteem, look for the good, with discernment, encourage diverse perspectives and use courage and compassion to say what needs to be said). 17. Flexible in handling change, meeting a standard of excellence, persistent in pursuing goals despite obstacles and setbacks. Self-awareness of how behaviors can affect our colleagues. Keeping disruptive emotions and impulses in check, sensing other's feelings and perspectives to advocate and voice opinions and viewpoints appropriately within and outside Promega. 18. Understand and comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to Promega's business. OCCASIONAL DUTIES: 1. Establish and maintain appropriate regional field sales presence supporting Promega solutions, such as customer workshops, seminars, tradeshows, etc. 2. Coordinate and hold responsibility for MBOs and additional Promega business projects under the guidance of senior management. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 1. S/M.S. in Life Sciences or technical field with 3 plus years hands on laboratory experience in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and/or Protein Biochemistry. 2. Minimum 5+ years previous experience working with customers in a sales environment and/or marketing or similar position. Proven ability to do account planning/prioritization/management, achieve sales goals and generate/assess sales spreadsheets. 3. Minimum 3 years management experience and/or coaching in a highly technical field. Proven ability in coaching team members to manage transactional and complex sales cycles, with successful revenue attainment. 4. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve their goals. 5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. 6. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving results. 7. Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and financial analysis. 8. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 9. Willingness to travel within the assigned regions. 10. Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Advanced degree (PhD or MS plus experience in biological sciences). 2. Technical knowledge in two or more scientific and/or market segments in which Promega serves currently or in emerging technology arenas. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to use mobile devices and computer equipment. 2. Ability to travel up to 50% as necessary. 3. Ability to drive and maintain a valid driver's license.
