Accurate clinical documentation and coding are essential to ensuring quality patient care, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. This role offers an experienced outpatient medical coder the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a broad range of ambulatory specialties while supporting one of the nation's leading academic health systems. As a Coding Quality Specialist 2, you will serve as a trusted coding expert for ambulatory medicine and specialty practices, helping ensure complete, compliant, and accurate code assignment. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, exposure to diverse specialties, and the opportunity to collaborate with providers and clinical teams in a highly respected healthcare environment. The Role As part of a specialized coding team, you will independently review complex outpatient documentation and apply advanced coding knowledge to support coding accuracy, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance across multiple ambulatory specialties including Allergy, Endocrinology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Pediatrics, and Sleep Medicine. This position is ideal for a credentialed outpatient coder with approximately three or more years of professional outpatient coding experience and a CPC certification who enjoys navigating complex documentation, solving coding challenges, and serving as a subject matter expert across multiple medical specialties. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Experience: 2+ years of coding/clinical experience. Specialty focus strongly preferred for the following disciplines: Adult and Pediatric Outpatient for Pulmonology including Bronchoscopies and Pulmonary Function Tests, Hematology and Oncology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, including Dialysis Billing, Infectious Disease, Allergy, Genetics, Pediatric Development and Neurology including nerve blocking injections and EEGs. Licensure: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally requires traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The pay range for this role is $23.00 - $35.32 hourly.
