Fiscal Leadership & Institutional Stewardship
- Provide executive-level fiscal oversight for all major annual expenditures, contractual obligations, and recurring financial commitments, ensuring strategic alignment, risk mitigation, and compliance with University, USG, State, and Federal regulations.
- Serve as a principal accountability officer for the college's financial operations, establishing and reinforcing internal control frameworks that safeguard institutional assets and ensure audit readiness.
- Direct financial governance processes through independent review, analysis, and reconciliation of accounts and funding sources, ensuring transparency, regulatory compliance, and fiduciary integrity.
- Design and implement enhanced financial reporting systems that provide actionable intelligence to senior leadership and budget holders, supporting strategic resource allocation and long-term planning.
- Conduct advanced financial analysis and forecasting to inform operational decisions, policy development, and institutional strategy.
- Exercise authority to identify, evaluate, and resolve complex accounting discrepancies and compliance risks with minimal oversight.
- Oversee financial administration of designated and donor-restricted funds, including the Founders Memorial Garden, ensuring strict adherence to donor intent and institutional standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of required tax reporting and regulatory submissions, maintaining full compliance and minimizing institutional exposure.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Business Manager regarding study away and domestic field programs, ensuring financial viability, regulatory adherence, and operational effectiveness.
- Interpret and operationalize complex financial policies for faculty, staff, and students, serving as a subject-matter expert and senior resource for the college.

Organizational Leadership & Operational Authority
- Directly supervise and evaluate the Business Manager and one departmental support staff, setting performance expectations and fostering professional growth within the Business Office.
- Provide operational leadership and decision-making authority in the absence of the Administrative Finance Director, ensuring continuity of financial governance and administrative oversight.
- Regularly advise the AFD and Dean on financial performance, compliance risks, emerging regulatory changes, and strategic funding considerations.
- Lead implementation of best administrative and financial practices to enhance operational efficiency, internal controls, and institutional recordkeeping.
- Translate university-wide regulations into college-level procedures, ensuring consistent compliance and institutional accountability.
- Lead cross-functional coordination through facilitation of weekly Business/HR meetings and quarterly professional development retreats, promoting strategic alignment and continuous improvement.
- Drive a proactive, solutions-oriented culture within the business office, addressing complex financial and administrative challenges with strategic leadership.
- Oversee onboarding, compliance training, and policy implementation for faculty, staff and students, reinforcing institutional standards and consistency.
- Maintain subject-matter expertise in financial regulations, institutional priorities, and administrative governance to provide informed strategic guidance.

- Provide executive oversight of more than 110 Foundation funds in collaboration with the University Foundation Office and development partners, ensuring fiduciary compliance and alignment with donor intent.
- Exercise approval authority for Foundation expenditure requests, maintaining rigorous compliance standards and financial accountability.
- Oversee the administration and financial processing of scholarships, awards, and stipends, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
- Resolve complex and high-impact Foundation fund issues, serving as a senior liaison between the college, development staff, and central foundation offices.
