ROLE OVERVIEW:

This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round.

This position is responsible for the safe, accurate operation, collection, and reporting of Geographic Information System data. Conducts inventory surveys utilizing drone technology and measures stockpile volumes using various GIS tools.

This position will require going on site to projects located throughout North Dakota.

Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM with two Saturdays worked per month. The schedule may vary due to weather and customer demand.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)



  1. Collect, examine and evaluate data - determine quality in relation to specifications with finished and in-process inspections.
  2. Conduct surveys of stockpiles for inventory using Trimble and drone technology.
  3. Measure stockpile volumes using GIS technology and create detailed inventory calculations
  4. Safely and properly perform laboratory tests on variety of materials (Aggregate, concrete and/or Asphalt).
  5. Meet with field personnel and customers to investigate quality issues and troubleshoot resolutions.
  6. Obtain/maintain all required DOT and FAA certifications.
  7. Travel as needed to project and work site locations
  8. Ensure DOT, MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  9. Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)



  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  3. Able to work independently


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)



  1. General education, problem solving skills, grammar, and arithmetic consistent with a GED or high school diploma; or equivalent transferable skills
  2. Ability to learn survey methods and procedures to obtain proper certifications
  3. Ability to learn new software and programs
  4. Ability to hold and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record.
  5. Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights and some Saturdays.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (preferred requirements i.e. certifications, software use, etc.)

1. Part 107 Certification
2. Previous experience with Trimble, and Veta
3. 1-2 Years GIS Experience
