POSITION SPECIFICS

The laboratories of J. Martin Bollinger, Jr., Carsten Krebs, and Amie Boal, seek to fill a postdoctoral research position in the area of dioxygen-activating metalloenzymes.

The qualified applicant will have expertise in one or more of the following areas of chemical research: synthetic chemistry, analytical chemistry, protein biochemistry, biophysical chemistry. Interest in learning physical methods of importance to bioinorganic chemistry is essential. Duties will include laboratory experimentation, involving recombinant DNA manipulations, bacterial cell growth and protein expression, protein purification, preparation of samples for spectroscopy, collection and analysis of spectral and kinetic data on enzyme reactions, general data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentations in meetings, and responsibilities related to laboratory maintenance.

Applicants must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Physics by the time employment starts. The individual should be self-motivated and is expected to lead the projects, as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts.
