Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (
UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education.
UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school.
Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016,
UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition,
UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lab Technician in the Center for Immunity and Inflammation within the New Jersey Medical School (
NJMS).
The primary purpose of the Health Aide position is to work under the direction of the head clerk and in accordance with
WIC policies and procedures, provides clerical and laboratory client services to
WIC enrolled women who are pregnant, postpartum or breast feeding, and to infants and children up to age five (5). Perform lab duties and anthropometric measurements, makes clinic appointments and provides front desk support for client check-in. Conducts hemoglobin testing and takes height and weight measurements of
WIC participants. Participates in
WIC mandated initiatives such as immunization data collection and computer input. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Service Excellence.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Tests hemoglobin levels (via finger stick) and takes anthropometric measurements on all participants as deemed necessary in accordance with both hospital and WIC policy and procedures Inputs all WIC related information into WIC database, as required.
- Maintains Lab supplies inventory and set-up of lab.
- Inputs anthropometric data (height and weight of participant) into the lab daily log and the client charts in WIC system.
- Assists with interfaces with the Hospital EMR database to update patient charts, as needed.
- Makes face-to-face and telephone appointments using both the WIC scheduler and the site-specific appointment template.

Qualifications

- Must have a High School Diploma or GED and minimum of one full-time year of clerical/lab experience performing data entry activities, database maintenance and general office services support.
