Purpose:

Manages and supervises the Transit Instruction and Pathway Review programs. Coordinates with King County Metro's Access Paratransit service for ongoing development and implementation of Conditional Eligibility. Performs as part of a team with other MV Transit Department Managers and staff to meet and exceed project goals.



Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking an experienced training manager who will manage and supervise the Transit Instruction and Pathway Review programs.

Major Job Responsibilities include the following:

    Manages the staffing process for the Transit Options Department including interviewing, hiring and training staff in compliance with policy and procedure.
  • Coordinates, organizes and manages Transit Options staff and work activities. Compiles and analyzes reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure we are meeting the program's goals in an effective and efficient manner. Manages Transit Options staff ensuring timeliness, accuracy and quality of services provided.
  • Prepares and delivers performance appraisals, administers progressive discipline, and recommends terminations as needed. Administers coaching, counseling and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Identifies, develops and implements procedures for the improvement of processes. Create new procedures and updates existing training materials and MV Policy & Procedure Manual as needed due to policy changes.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels to provide a high level of customer satisfaction while controlling overtime; reviews and processes payroll. Monitors attendance documenting tardiness, absences, pre-approved leave requests, etc. Approves or denies time of requests and manages shift coverage and employee attendance while working within budget constraints.
  • Develops staff; provides information, educational opportunities, cross training, customer service training, sensitivity training, etc. Administers and develops ongoing training in conjunction with Lead Mobility Specialist, Outreach Coordinator, and other team members.
  • Plans and facilitates staff meetings on a regular basis to set goals and maintain departmental and company standards.
  • Oversees Transit Instructor training assignments and ensures productive use of staff resources. Oversees the work and productivity of the Outreach Coordinator, Transit Instructors, and Mobility Specialists to ensure program goals are met.
  • Develops positive community relationships with various disability organizations, senior service organizations, and High School Special Education programs within King County. Conducts professional oral presentations to management, contractors, social service agencies and members of the general public.
  • Coordinates with the Metro Mobility Planning and Conditional Eligibility workgroup to provide advice and quality control regarding Pathway Review and Transit Instruction programs.
  • Able to perform Transit Instruction Outreach presentations as needed for staff members of various professional agencies within King County that provide care and management of seniors and people with disabilities. Ensures coordination, training, and performance of monthly fixed-route coach Ramp Instruction as needed for individuals with disabilities.
  • Attends community health fairs and informational events which focus on special needs populations as needed to represent MV Transit Instruction program in a helpful and professional manner.
  • Attends industry conferences and events such as the annual conferences for the Association for Travel Instruction (ATI), Community Transportation Association of the Northwest (CTANW), regional coordination meetings, etc. to represent the company, research and bring back industry "best practices" and promote the use of of Transit Instruction nationally.
  • Produces and maintains clear and detailed documentation in a meticulous manner. Prepares and delivers accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to meet client agency and/or company requirements.
  • Works outside in all types of weather while using Fixed-Route transportation as a learning environment. This includes working in cold, rain, snow and/or heat.
  • Communicates any issues to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager as they arise.


Qualifications

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Special Education, or related field of study is preferred. MSW or social work certification (or related health field) may be substituted for degree.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Four (4) or more years work experience working with or providing services for persons with disabilities, especially those with perceptual, cognitive, and/or mobility disabilities.
  • Experience in individual training and public speaking. Demonstrate ability to provide training and support to people of all abilities and levels of sophistication.
  • Should have in-depth experience in navigating through an urban area on a bus; preferably the local transit systems operating within King County, Washington.
  • Must have the ability to track multiple projects, give support to staff members, and keep a timely schedule while maintaining good working relations with diverse staff to create a team environment.
  • Must always be able to work flexible hours and be available to staff throughout the day. This includes being available to work early mornings, late evenings, weekdays, and weekends as business needs require.
  • Must be self-motivated and problem-solve customer public transportation issues while being able to relate this information to others accurately and appropriately upon request. Should be detail oriented, meticulous and thorough in executing all duties of the position.
  • Must possess at a minimum an intermediate skill level of the Microsoft Office operating system including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Also, must have the ability to quickly learn and utilize new software programs.
  • Familiarization with Trapeze CERT and ATIS software modules preferred.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • Must possess a WA state driver's license with a good driving record meeting certain criterion as defined by MV Transit employee policy. MV Transit driving record policies are provided upon request.

Starting Salary Range: $42 - $46.22/hour
