Job Title: Laboratory/Pathologists Assistant/Pathology Technician Location(s): Los Angeles, CA Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Chief of Anatomic Pathology, Director of Operations, and/or Clinical Specialist Supervisor, the Pathologists' Assistant supports the Anatomic Pathology Department through specimen grossing, frozen section assistance, specimen photography, and related pathology operations. The role may also include administrative, procedural, teaching, and reporting responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Describe, photograph, and gross surgical pathology specimens.
- Assist with frozen section procedures.
- Support anatomic pathology workflow and laboratory operations.
- Maintain protocols, reports, procedures, and documentation.
- Assist with data management and instrument-related tasks.
- Perform additional administrative and teaching duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant.
- Currently working as a Pathologists' Assistant with stable work history.
- PA(ASCP) certified OR eligible to obtain PA(ASCP) certification within 12 months of hire.
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, health sciences, or related field.
- Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
Candidate Eligibility Requirements for PA(ASCP):
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
Mandatory Resume Questions: Candidates must include answers to the following on their resume:
- Do you have a bachelor's degree in a biological or health sciences field?
- Have you completed a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program?
- What is the name of the Pathologists' Assistant program you completed?
Additional Notes:
- Candidates do not need to hold PA(ASCP) certification at the time of hire but must be eligible for certification at submission.
- Candidates must possess a Pathologists' Assistant degree/program completion to qualify.
- If already certified, PA(ASCP) certification must be attached with the resume and submission documents.
