Registered Nurse - Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Lab

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

The Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Lab at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital consists of the Cath Lab where patients undergo cardiac catheterization procedures. This is done with diagnostic imaging equipment to visualize the arteries and chambers of the heart to treat any abnormality found. The Pediatric Interventional Cardiology lab also consists of the EP Lab where cardiac electrophysiology studies are performed. An EP study is an invasive procedure that tests the electrical conduction system of the heart to assess the electrical activity and conduction pathways of the heart. This position is to support our patients pre and post procedure and to prepare them for transfer to our in-patient area/s or home.

Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors. Carries out legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2 for overall work performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of recent RN experience in a pediatric inpatient/outpatient setting
  • Recent RN experience working in a Pediatric and/or Adult Pre-Op and Recovery area
  • Knowledge of Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease
  • Point of Care testing (POCT) experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience working in a Pediatric/Congenital Cath/EP Lab
  • Heart rhythm interpretation
  • ACLS certification
  • Knowledge of Radiation Safety (RHB) and working with the use of Fluoroscopy
  • Experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, EPIC / APeX strongly preferred
  • Microsoft Outlook experience

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current CA RN license
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Current AHA PALS Certification

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
