Hexcel is currently seeking anEHS Technical Internfor our Decatur, AL location.

The internship experience will help participants gain the necessary skills and knowledge through comprehensive and holistic learning experiences. Interns will have the technical, business, and leadership foundation to proactively and continuously make innovative contributions to the future of Hexcel in positions best suited to match their individual career goals.

What you will do:

  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
  • Assist with annual required safety training. LOTO annuals, Safety Leadership training, monthly trainings, personal protective equipment, machine guarding, industrial exposure and ergonomics.
  • Assist with the Hazard Communication program using related website to update safety data sheets and chemical inventory.
  • Maintain and update EHS programs as needed.
  • Assist with investigations of incidents to identify root cause and to determine how to prevent reoccurrence. Use of 5 whys 7 ways during investigations.
  • Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, materials, and risk assessments.
  • Assist and learn ISO 14001 and 45001 systems audit, Hazardous and non-hazardous waste inspections, best management practices of chemical containment inspections, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure inspections.
  • Experience working in a process safety management environment.
  • Opportunities to assist and enhance safety key performance indicators, management of change, near miss reporting, stretching, Confined Space, Industrial Hygiene principles, Job Hazard Analysis, machine guarding and EHS management systems.

Your boarding pass (qualifications):

  • Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene Major or Environmental Science
  • Minimal of 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Intent to enroll in college following semester/quarter
  • Experience with Microsoft programs is strongly preferred.
