TITLE: Shipping Coordinator Lead



POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Lead Shipping Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all outbound shipping operations within a paper manufacturing environment. This role ensures timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of finished goods while maintaining compliance with transportation regulations and customer requirements. The position requires strong coordination with production, warehouse, and customer service teams.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in manufacturing
  • Prior experience in a lead or senior role is a plus
  • Knowledge of freight operations (LTL, FTL, flatbed, and/or rail)
  • Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems
  • Familiarity with paper manufacturing products and handling requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of international shipping and export compliance is a plus
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds routinely
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) ERP, AS400, IBS system and general computer programs.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coordinate daily shipping activities for finished paper products, including scheduling carriers, preparing documentation, and tracking shipments


  • Ensure on-time delivery performance while minimizing freight costs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for shipping-related questions and issue resolution on the floor
  • Assist in prioritizing workloads and assigning tasks to shipping personnel based on production and delivery schedules


  • Collaborate closely with production and warehouse teams to align shipping schedules with manufacturing output
  • Prepare and review shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, and export documentation


  • Communicate with carriers and logistics providers to arrange pickups and resolve scheduling issues
  • Support training of new employees and reinforce standard operating procedures


  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure alignment of shipping schedules with output
  • Ensure proper handling and loading of paper products, including rolls and palletized materials
  • Manage relationships with carriers, freight brokers, and logistics providers
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays, damages, or discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate records in ERP/WMS systems
  • Analyze shipping data to identify trends and implement process improvements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics efficiency and cost reduction
