Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety First! Safety Always! Supporting a preventive safety culture throughout Dana
  • Coordinate the design, development and testing of new valve stem seals for our customers.
  • Participate in personal, electronic, and/or documented interface with customer engineering staff during program development.-Maintain an open issues list for design and engineering related issues.
  • Perform/coordinate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEA).
  • Ownership of Design Verification Planning and Reports (DVP&R) with progress reports.
  • Maintain program archive file.
  • Participate in Value Analysis and Value Engineering Activities
  • Assist in development of testing concepts for validating unique component features.
  • Work with support personnel (CAD, Testing, and Manufacturing) to complete all product designs in accordance with customer requirements and specifications.
  • Interpret test results and write reports.
  • Assist in development of materials and validation of new product concepts.
  • Interface with the production team to ensure designs can be manufactured within manufacturing capabilities and requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of competitor activity through benchmarking activities and internal teams.
  • Lead program engineering meetings with both Dana internal staff and customer engineers.

Education and Qualifications

Education:



  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)


Required Skills:



  • Strong written and oral communication skills that allow the individual to express technical information in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical people.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 software.
  • Must be a proven self-starter with proven time management ability.
  • This individual must enjoy working in a team environment as well as independently without constant direct supervision.
  • Must be able to work under timing pressures and have proven track record of dependability.



Desired Skills (but not required):



  • Understanding of the inner workings of internal combustion engines
  • Experience with direct customer engineering interaction
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter
  • Experience with small, molded rubber products
