As an Assembly Lead, you'll play a key role in ensuring equipment is built, prepared, and shipped with care and precision. You'll join Schenck, a Coperion brand - part of Hillenbrand, in Sabetha, Kansas, where we support industrial manufacturing through disciplined production and continuous improvement. Your work will strengthen quality, equipment reliability, and on-time performance. Your work will directly support operational continuity, safety, and long-term customer trust through disciplined execution and collaboration.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Assemble equipment by interpreting blueprints and technical instructions to meet quality, safety, and performance standards.

  • Complete installation and finishing work, including plumbing, electrical controls, timing devices, guards, belts, chains, decals, and minor paint touch-ups, to deliver shipment-ready equipment.

  • Test assembled equipment and address issues using defined procedures and sound judgment to ensure reliable operation.

  • Package finished products by securing, tagging, and attaching loose hardware to protect equipment during transport.

  • Prepare packing lists and maintain shipping logs, noting shortages or discrepancies to support accurate records and on-time delivery.

  • Build skids and crates, calculating sizes for individual units and full shipments to maximize truck utilization.

  • Load packaged equipment, operate material-handling equipment, and coordinate with carriers and customers to support efficient outbound shipping.

  • You'll work alongside assembly, shipping, and operations teammates, contributing experience and guidance while fostering an environment of respect and inclusion. Your collaboration will help the team meet commitments, improve processes, and support Coperion FHN's and Hillenbrand's shared goals.

THE EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience assembling industrial or mechanical equipment in a manufacturing or operations environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical instructions.

  • Skill using hand tools, air-driven tools, and electrical tools common to equipment assembly.

  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and pallet jack, or willingness to complete required training.

  • Comfort performing basic mathematical calculations for measurements, counts, and skid sizing.

  • Attention to detail, accountability for quality and safety, and the ability to prioritize work in a production environment.

  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to continuous improvement while working effectively with others.
