Flood Control District

About the Position

Unlike private-sector consulting roles, at the Flood Control District, our engineers do what they do best: focus on engineering. There are no billable hours, no marketing expectations, and no client development pressures. Success is defined by technical excellence, real-world impact, and service to the public. So, whether you are a new college graduate or you already have experience in the engineering industry, this position could be the right fit for you.

In the Floodplain Use Permitting Branch, you will collaborate with a team of professional engineers, engineering associates, and technicians to support various permitting tasks. Your responsibilities include conducting pre-application meetings to offer initial guidance, reviewing construction plans, issuing permits, and managing complex permit applications from beginning to end. Additionally, this role involves assisting in the review of Conditional Letters of Map Revision (CLOMR) and Letters of Map Revision (LOMR) before submitting them to FEMA.
