C&S Waste Solutions of Lassen County, LLC, a Waste Connections company, is looking for aLead Diesel Mechanic with a proven safety track recordto join our team inSusanville, CA!

Schedule isMonday-Friday working 8-10 hour shifts. Starting pay for this position is$40 - $43 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • PM Service (A, B, C, D, H services):Performing routine inspections at 21 day or 450 hour intervals.

  • Fluid & Filter Changes:Replacing engine oil, air filters, and fuel filters.

  • DOT Inspections:Performing and documenting annualDOT safety inspections.

  • Lubrication & Adjustments:Greasing components and adjusting brakes.

  • Repairs include but are not limited to,routine maintenanceand repairing engines chassis and body components,hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, wheels and tires.

  • Utilizes vehicle computerelectronicssystems to interpretfailure modesto initiate or assign repairs.

  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

  • Completes required paperwork utilizingfleet maintenancesoftware program associated with repairing vehicles,documentingparts usage, and accounting for repair times.

  • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

  • Performsmaintenancerelated work as required.

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area incompliancewith corporate and OSHA standards.

  • Performs required safety protocols while working on vehicles.

  • Ability to effectively communicateneeded repairs or tasks.

  • Safety-oriented approach to all tasks.

  • Work environment may be indoors in a shop, or outdoors to repair trucks on the road. Usually well-lighted and ventilated. Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and to handle greasy or dirty tools. These factors require following basic safety precautions.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in heavy truck repairs and maintenance

  • Ability to work safely

  • Outstanding communication skills, and building good team relationships

  • Attention to detail

  • Flexibility

  • Proficiency in inspecting brake systems (air brakes), steering, suspension, tires, electrical systems, and emissions (DPF/SCR).

  • Ability to lift, carry, and pull up to 75+ pounds, with frequent kneeling, bending, and working in extreme temperatures.

  • Basic understanding of ECM downloading and interpreting trouble codes.

  • Familiarity withdigital maintenance platformsfor tracking service records.

  • Knowledge ofHydraulics repairis required

  • Must provide own personal tools.Welding/fabricationexperience is a huge plus!
