Job Title: New Construction Data Center - Commissioning Owners Representative (Senior Level)

Location: Amarillo, TX

What this job involves:

This position is part of a small on-site team providing end-user (tenant) commissioning oversight for a hyperscale data center build. As a permanent full-time member of our data center commissioning team, you will report directly to the data center end-user and act as their delegate onsite to monitor and witness the MEP and controls and monitoring systems commissioning activities performed by others. You will serve as a critical liaison between the owner, general contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure exceptional technical oversight and quality assurance throughout the construction and commissioning process.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:
  • Witnessing and reviewing all facets of commissioning activities for the project by providing exceptional technical oversight of electrical, mechanical, and controls systems
  • Performing electrical and/or mechanical QA/QC inspections and reviewing QA/QC documentation completed by equipment installers
  • Reviewing and providing input on the development of Commissioning Plans, Commissioning Specifications, design drawings, specifications, and submittal reviews
  • Attending and participating in project commissioning meetings with Owner, General Contractors, sub-contractors, inspectors, AHJs, and other stakeholders
  • Reviewing and commenting on standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods-of-Procedures (MOPs)
  • Developing and compiling project commissioning documentation into site/project specific Systems Manuals for use by the end-user's operations team
  • Reviewing, commenting on, and witnessing planned testing scripts for L3-L5 commissioning activities, providing end-user input on test results, issues, and acceptance
  • Developing and evaluating vendor training programs for installed equipment and systems
  • Providing detailed weekly reporting to the end-user on overall status of project commissioning activities
Desired experience and technical skills:

Requirements:

  • Documented and verifiable experience acting as an Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Controls 3rd party Senior level Commissioning Engineer on greenfield data center projects with capacities of 25+MW
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant mechanical or electrical engineering and/or field-testing experience with minimum of 5 years providing commissioning and/or construction QA/QC field services for data center construction projects
  • Strong fluency with commissioning processes and deliverables covered in ASHRAE commissioning requirements and guidelines
  • Expertise in electrical and/or mechanical equipment/systems installation (means & methods), system startup and pre-functional inspections, acceptance testing and associated commissioning activities
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in testing and commissioning of MV and LV Transformers, UPS systems, Generators, Paralleling Switchgear, ATSs and STSs, Fuel Oil systems, PDUs, EPMS, Chillers (air and water cooled), CDUs, CRACs, CRAHs, AHUs, BMS/BAS/EPMS
  • Strong proficiency in use of QA/QC and Cx software applications such as BIM360, CxAlloy, Facility Grid, and other related QA/QC and Cx applications
  • Strong data management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in MS Project, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and report against contractor (and other third party) schedule updates
  • Ability to be based full-time in the Amarillo, Texas area and required to be onsite fulltime Monday - Friday
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% throughout US and possibly internationally for offsite meetings and attendance at factory and integrator testing

Preferred:

  • An ABET accredited engineering or technology degree (or equivalent industry experience is acceptable)
  • A Commissioning Professional Certification from a recognized industry authority
  • PE or PMP designation
  • Experience working in an engineering consultancy or data center owner organization
