Job Description
General Purpose of Job: Provides leadership and expertise in areas of compliance and performance improvement as it relates to Patient Care Services. Ensures achievement of an effective State and Federal Regulatory Agency Compliance program, and continuous improvement in patient care demonstrated by optimal clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Develops overall Performance Improvement plan for Patient Care Services, implements and creates an annual report.
- Ensures the implementation and evaluation of compliance with State, Federal regulation, JCAHO and National Safety Standards.
- Facilitates the design and implementation of information systems to collect, tract, and report outcomes and effectiveness.
- Obtain/provide data and ensure that a consistent system of continuous quality improvement is implemented in all Patient Care Services departments.
- Collaborates with Department Managers in the development and implementation of Performance Improvement plans.
- Assists Department Managers with development of corrective action plans.
- Oversees and assists departments with the monitoring and reporting of Performance Improvement information.
- Oversees participation in the ANA's National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators.
- Integrates with Medical Staff Performance Improvement committee and hospital wide performance improvement efforts.
- Represents Patient Care Services on health system committees related to performance improvements; including multidisciplinary teams.
- Provides appropriate performance improvement education yearly.
- Participates in Nursing Practice Council.
- Acts as a resource for staff regarding standards and performance improvement activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
| General Requirements |
Healthcare professions requiring licensure in the State of Michigan, must have and maintain current licensure. Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ); if not CPHQ certified, must obtain within 3 years of employment. |
| Work Experience |
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Quality related role. Experience with regulations and standards interpretation. |
| Education |
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Quality Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management or related field. |
| Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
Demonstrated ability and experience in process improvement. Advanced analytical skills necessary to develop sound recommendation and assist in implementing improved patient care service practices, policies and procedures, evaluate outcomes and create educational materials and programs. Proven interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate theoretical and technical concepts to individuals with widely varying backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely, organized, confident manner Must demonstrate ability to make presentations within and outside the department, as needed. Expertise with database, spreadsheet, and word processing software. |
