Your role

As an Assistant Business Controller at National Tank & Equipment, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's financial management and strategic decision-making processes. You will assist the Business Controller and General Manager by delivering detailed financial analyses, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring strict compliance with financial policies and regulations. Collaborating closely with various internal teams, you will help shape and monitor business strategies that promote sustainable growth and operational efficiency.

Reporting directly to the Business Controller, your contributions will be vital to maintaining strong financial health and governance across the Specialty Rental Division.


You will

  • Prepare and consolidate accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with GAAP standards, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
  • Manage comprehensive general ledger activities, oversee account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintain an organized chart of accounts.
  • Lead the supervision of accounts payable and other critical accounting operations to guarantee timely and efficient financial closing cycles.
  • Collaborate in budgeting and forecasting initiatives, delivering insightful budget-to-actual variance analyses and supporting cost control efforts.
  • Implement and monitor robust internal controls to protect company assets and support audit preparedness.
  • Act as a key liaison during external audits, preparing required documentation and facilitating resolution of audit findings.
  • Work cross-functionally to align financial processes with business objectives, supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.


To succeed, you will need

  • At least five years of progressive experience in accounting roles within equipment rental, construction, industrial services,or other asset-heavy industries.
  • Minimum two years experience supervising accounts payable and general accounting teams with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strong expertise in GAAP-compliant financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end processes.
  • Proficient with general ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial closing workflows.
  • Practical knowledge of fixed asset accounting, encompassing capitalization, depreciation, and asset disposals.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and conducting variance analysis to support effective financial planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to support audit processes and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Advanced skills in ERP financial systems and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • CPA certification or eligibility is preferred, but candidates with diverse accounting backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
