Job Title:Infrastructure Engineer II



Position Summary: Duquesne Light is seeking a motivatedInfrastructure Engineer IIto support enterpriseLinux, storage, and virtualization platforms.

This role focuses onday-to-day operations, troubleshooting, incident response, and routine system maintenance (including patching)to ensure secure, stable, and reliable infrastructure supporting both corporate andmission-critical utility systems.

This position offers the opportunity todevelop deeper technicalexpertiseand grow into more advanced infrastructure engineering responsibilities over time.



Location:Pittsburgh, PA



Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Support & Incident Response



  • Provide operational support for Linux, storage, and virtualization environments


  • Respond to alerts and incidents, restoring service within defined SLAs


  • Troubleshoot issues across compute, storage, and virtualization layers


  • Perform incident triage, escalation, andassistwith root cause analysis



Linux Systems Administration



  • SupportRHEL and Oracle Linux (OEL)environments


  • Perform routine administration including:


  • System patching and updates


  • Provisioning and configuration


  • Performance monitoring


  • UtilizeRed Hat SatelliteandOracle Linux Automation Manager (OLAM)



Storage & Data Protection



  • Support storage platforms:


  • Pure Storage


  • Dell EMC Isilon


  • Assistwith backup and recovery tools:


  • Avamar, Rubrik, Acronis


  • Perform backup validation and support restore operations



Virtualization



  • SupportVMware vSphereandOracle Linux KVM


  • Assist with VM provisioning, configuration, and performance monitoring



Automation & Tools



  • Utilize andmaintainautomation using:


  • Ansible


  • Basic scripting (Bash/Python)


  • Support existing automation and configuration management processes



Application Platform Support



  • Support infrastructure for enterprise systems such as:


  • Oracle Utility Suite


  • IBMMaximo


  • Outage Management System (OMS)


  • Transmission & DistributionSCADA


  • Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issuesimpactingapplication performance



Monitoring & Maintenance



  • Monitor system health and respond to alerts


  • Perform routine maintenance activities, includingpatching and updates


  • Follow established change management and operational procedures



Security & Identity



  • Support Linux patching, hardening, and compliance activities


  • Assist withRed Hat Identity Management (IdM)and access controls



On-Call Support



  • Participate in on-call rotation


  • Support after-hours incidents and scheduled maintenance as needed



Additional Responsibilities:



  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
  • Storm role duties as assigned



Education/Experience



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience


  • 2+ years of infrastructure experience(Linux, storage, or virtualization)



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Exposure to container platforms (OpenShift/Kubernetes)


  • Familiarity with Terraform or automation frameworks


  • Experience in regulated or utility environments


  • Working knowledge or exposure to NERC CIP standards and their impact on infrastructure operations and security

Technical Skills



  • Linux:RHEL, Oracle Linux


  • Storage/Backup:Pure, Isilon, Avamar, Rubrik, Acronis


  • Virtualization:VMware, Oracle Linux KVM


  • Automation:Ansible, basic scripting

Physical Requirements: Travel:Up to 15% between Duquesne Light facilities



Scope

Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Typically, accountable for managing one's own time and workflow. Responsible for using prescribed guidelines to analyze situations and solve problems. Work is typically of moderate complexity requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base and develop capabilities by partnering with more experienced staff as needed



Decision Impact

Problems and issues faced are vague but may be recognizable based on past experience. Accountable for some direct level of reasoning and decision making in straightforward situations based on precedents.



Hybrid Work

Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.



Storm Roles

All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company.Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.

Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
