Position summary

Reporting to the Chief Inclusion and Social Responsibility Officer, the Opportunity & Inclusion Senior Manager will work closely with the Firm's Opportunity and Inclusion Team, Talent Development Department, Opportunity and Inclusion Committee, affinity group leaders, business development department, and other stakeholders to enhance the firm's inclusion programs, performance, and profile.

Position responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the firm's response to client inclusion surveys and client-facing inclusion requests, including developing strategy, and ensuring alignment with client expectations and firm priorities.
  • Oversee and evolve the firm's Opportunity & Inclusion Sponsorship Program, including program design, execution, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation of outcomes and impact.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of the Pathways Scholarship Program, including selection processes, stakeholder coordination, and ongoing program assessment and enhancements.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the firm's affinity groups, providing guidance on programming, engagement, and alignment with firm priorities.
  • Oversee and drive the planning and execution of internal events, workshops, trainings, and programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and maximizing impact and engagement.
  • Develop presentations and briefing materials for firm leadership, partners, and external stakeholders on inclusion-related topics and initiatives.
  • Oversee the analysis and interpretation of data related to recruitment, hiring, promotion, retention, and utilization, identifying trends and providing insights to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Lead the development and management of internal and external communications related to inclusion initiatives, including publications, website content, and thought leadership.
  • Oversee and manage the Opportunity & Inclusion budget, including forecasting, tracking, and advising on resource allocation aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Represent the Opportunity & Inclusion function in internal and external meetings, serving as a subject matter resource and advisor to stakeholders across the firm.
  • Lead and manage the firm's Supplier Diversity Program, including strategy, vendor engagement, and performance tracking.
  • Serve as a member of the firm's associate exit interview team, including conducting interviews, identifying themes, and developing reports and recommendations for firm leadership.
  • Lead and coordinate O&I-related award submissions and external recognitions, aligning submissions with firm priorities and positioning.
  • Partner with Attorney Recruiting to develop and implement strategies to attract and retain diverse talent pool, including engagement with student affinity groups and pipeline programs.
  • Monitor and analyze associate utilization and related trends, providing insights and recommendations to support equitable work allocation and retention.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to junior team members, including coaching, mentoring, and reviewing work products to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing programs and processes, and lead implementation of improvements to increase efficiency, impact, and alignment with firm priorities.
  • Serve as a key thought partner to the Chief Inclusion and Social Responsibility Officer on emerging issues, risks, and opportunities related to inclusion, including navigating evolving legal and business landscapes.
Experience, skills, and qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; J.D. or advanced degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in inclusion or human resources at a law firm, government agency or professional services firm required. Law firm experience is highly preferred.
  • Must live within commutable distance to a firm office with the ability to come into the office 3-4 days per week.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in project management, operations, and leadership
  • Strong interpersonal, consensus-building, collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and commitment to innovating and enhancing the firm's practices to ensure that we continue to be industry leaders in these critical areas
  • Ability to pay impeccable attention to detail
  • Experience in preparing and monitoring a department budget
  • Sound judgment and ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
  • High level of proficiency with data management, analysis and reporting
  • Ability to multi-task and function comfortably under extremely stressful situations and deadlines
  • Team oriented and disposition to collaborate with members from various Firm departments, committees and external organizations
  • Detail-oriented and ability to complete tasks under minimal supervision
  • Ability and availability to travel to other Firm locations when required
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

SALARY

Illinois applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $165,000-$188,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

Washington, DC applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $175,000 - $197,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

New York applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $182,000 - $206,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
