Laboratory Aide - Summer (Institute for Cell Engineering)

The Dawson lab is seeking a Laboratory Aide - Summerto carryout experiments under close supervision of a faculty investigator, senior technician, or postdoctoral fellow in a laboratory. Follows routine protocols under close supervision.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Use basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab.
• Perform laboratory tests and/or experiments following established procedures or protocols.
• Operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Develop a basic tracking database/spreadsheet based on study requirements utilizing Excel, Access, or similar software applications.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records, present data summaries, identify and resolve common problems, and use basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects.
• Use basic laboratory skills: processing, storing, labeling, and identifying study samples.
• Maintain and make minor adjustments to equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Currently pursuing a high school diploma with some science coursework.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
