SUMMARY:
The St. Louis CITY SC Academy Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Sporting Director, the Academy Director, and other staff members in creating an elite training and competitive environment that strives to recruit players from all parts of the St. Louis region. The Academy Assistant Coach will strive to achieve the highest level of success by creating a team with a culture of excellence, that provides a life enriching experience and seeks to develop a complete player on and off the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:


  • Development and guidance of a youth team according to St. Louis CITY SC's youth development philosophy.
  • Prepare for, execute, and attend all training sessions and match days according to the St. Louis CITY SC's training philosophy, contributing actively to session planning, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Assist the Academy Head Coach in daily coaching of the team, including training design, session execution, and physical preparation.
  • Contribute to match preparation, including opposition analysis, training periodization, and game-plan development.
  • Assist the IDP lead with developing and executing individualized and unit training sessions tailored to players' strengths, developmental needs, and positional requirements.
  • Assist in developing St. Louis CITY SC's youth development philosophy in cooperation with the Sporting Leadership team.
  • Ensure that the Academy team's objectives, strategy, and clearly defined short- and long-term performance targets are fully aligned with St. Louis CITY's vision, as well as its coaching and playing philosophy.
  • Communicate effectively with the performance staff (sports science, medical, analysis) to support player availability and match readiness.
  • Utilize video analysis platforms (Veo, Bepro, Taka, Hudl, etc.) to support tactical reviews, player feedback, and post-match analysis.
  • Collaborate with sporting leadership and coaching staff to support squad planning and roster management for the Academy teams.
  • Actively support the scouting department to identify the best talents regionally and locally.
  • Stay current on coaching education, licenses, and best practices in player development



QUALIFICATIONS:


  • USSF "B" License (required)
  • Minimum of five years' experience coaching in youth soccer environments.
  • Strong understanding of soccer tactics, sport science, and holistic player development.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey the Academy's mission, vision, and club culture to players, families, and the broader community.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and dependable, with the ability to execute tasks accurately, efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with video analysis tools (ex. Taka, BePro, Veo, Hudl, etc.)
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, events, and holidays as required.
  • Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid driver's license.
