Position Summary	Flexible work arrangements, including virtual and hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs. This is a full time position, and occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on study demands. The Research Professional ( EHRA-NF) will serve as research operations lead, supporting Pediatric Critical Care Medicine ( PCCM). The Research Professional is responsible for directing daily operations of clinical research study regulatory management and providing input in organization of new research, administrative initiatives, and strategies. The position will report to the Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. This position is responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: Performing regulatory support for divisional clinical research projects (IRB submissions, amendments, renewals, contractual agreements, and participant registration); Identifying potential participants and retrieving consent; Facilitating patient involvement in clinical research participation registries; Coordination of biospecimens; Validation of data collection, documentation, and analysis; and ensuring good clinical practice guidelines are followed. Managing day-to-day operations of multiple projects with considerable independence in the areas of project management, planning, design, data collection/analysis, decision making, and problem solving. As the Division's research portfolio grows, this role may assume additional leadership responsibilities related to the coordination and oversight of research personnel and activities, consistent with institutional policies and future organizational needs. The mission of the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine department is to provide expert, multidisciplinary care for a broad spectrum of conditions impact infants, children and teenagers within the UNC Children's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit ( PICU) and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit ( PCICU). Providers deploy a wide-variety of treatments and life support functions such as cardiac ECMO. In addition to superior patient care, the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is one of the premier multidisciplinary training programs in the Southeast.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements	Master's or Bachelor's and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience	Advanced experience in clinical or translational research coordination, project management, or program operations. Ability to independently manage complex, multi-site research studies. Strong working knowledge of clinical research regulations, IRB processes, and Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP). Experience coordinating research budgets and funding structures in collaboration with grants and finance partners. Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively with investigators, research staff, institutional partners, and external collaborators. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and research data systems (e.g., REDCap).
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience	Four or more years of experience supporting externally funded research programs. Experience with observational, outcomes based, or device related research. Experience contributing to grant writing, progress reporting, and scholarly publications. SOCRA or ACRP certification strongly desired.
