Requirements:



  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Ability to identify general use tools
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read a tape measure to the 32nd
  • Have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Be willing to attend continuing education courses provided by Wabash such as basic mechanical systems, basic pneumatics, and basic electrical systems in a 24-36-month period from the hire date.
  • Wabash requires reference/background, and criminal and drug screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
  • 1-year mechanical experience preferred


About the Role:

This position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

Your Responsibilities:



  • Performs basic maintenance duties under close direction including painting, light plumbing, cleaning shop and equipment areas, and other miscellaneous maintenance
  • Performs work of increasing difficulty and responsibility, to develop and improve skills
  • Acquires knowledge of the common methods, materials, tools, and equipment used within the trade
  • Repairs and maintains tools and equipment of a less complex nature
  • Maintains service records and monitors standard meter readings on equipment
  • Completes room preparations or set up
  • Assists skilled workers and keeps them supplied with materials and tools
  • Assists with special projects, including commercial snow removal
  • Escorts vendors performing contracted services within secured areas
  • Assists with fire alarm or another alarm testing
  • Performs various tasks requiring equipment, vehicle, and tool operation
  • Uses a variety of small and large tools
  • Operates a variety of light and medium-duty equipment and attachments including tractors, trucks, scissor lifts, boom trucks, and other equipment.
  • Completes paperwork, work orders, timesheets, and equipment logs using a computerized system;
  • Follows purchasing guidelines.

Physical Demands:



  • Requires minimum of 9-10 hours standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, with a full range of body mechanics/movements
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in an environment requiring use of stairs and climbing in and out of trucks or working in tight spaces.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)



Working Conditions and Environment:

The work environment includes exposure to high decibels of noise, temperature, weather variations, metal welding processes and chemicals, which may include solvents, undercoating, paint, and caulking. Fast paced environment with moving equipment and motorized vehicles running at all times.
