Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Qualifications
  • Education:
    Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing [BSN]).

  • Licensure:
    Must obtain and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the hiring state and/or hold a valid compact license in the state where nursing duties are performed. The individual is responsible for meeting all State Board of Nursing requirements.

Certifications
  • Required:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or successful completion within 30 days of hire
  • Additional Certifications (as required by position/unit or within specified timeframe):

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • CPHON (Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse)
    • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • PEARS (Pediatric Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization)
    • S.T.A.B.L.E. Program (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support)
    • C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification)
    • Additional unit-specific certifications as required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout each shift
  • Ability to perform essential physical movements, including gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting to fulfill job duties
