SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

To serve as the safety resource in the field and office by carrying out procedures with the site leaders that effectively control accident and health exposures in the company and ensure safety compliance. The Safety Manager role will assist in eliminating and controlling hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations that may lead to human injury and/or property damage. Must be willing to travel and be the onsite safety professional for large projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support safety oversight for large projects
  • Works closely with the operations to understand and comply with OSHA regulations, Company Safety Policies and Owner Safety requirements.
  • Investigates safety related incidents in conjunction with site leaders.
  • Assist leaders with developing JHA's, toolbox talks, and Safety documentation.
  • Complete Site Inspections and document at least 1 time per day.
  • Conduct regular walk-through inspections of site and serve as safety liaison between field and management (Upwards of 70% of the job is in the field doing audits and interacting with crews.
  • Assisting and identifying, documenting, and recommending resolution of hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions; Follow through to ensure corrections have been made.
  • Participate in pre-task planning and jobsite safety meetings.
  • Assist with compiling data, photographs, Etc; prepare appropriate forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, and local accident regulations.
  • Issue various permits (i.e. confined spaces, crane) as required.
  • Conduct awareness level training and new hire orientations, per job specific requirements.
  • Assist in researching safety compliance and regulations in the industry.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Hands on experience managing safety programs within commercial, industrial, or large scale construction environments.
  • OSHA 30 class completed.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • One or more of the following certifications: CHST, ASP, CSP, or other safety related accreditations
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to jobsites.
  • 10+ years of safety experience in construction industry.


ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Strong knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926, CFR 1910, and applicable construction safety regulations
  • Willingness to work with employees and enforce policies.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
