FCA Packaging creates and manufactures innovative wood packaging solutions. Our builders manufacture wood pallets, boxes, and crates, and we are looking for a Non-CDL Driver to join our team.

Overview

The Non-CDL Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting finished goods, raw materials, and packaging products between customer locations, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities. This position operates a 26-foot flatbed, curtain side, or box truck and plays a critical role in supporting daily operations and customer satisfaction.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM (with occasional overtime as needed)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a 26-foot flatbed, curtain side, or box truck to transport materials and finished products.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload products safely while ensuring cargo integrity.
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules efficiently.
  • Verify delivery instructions and obtain required delivery documentation and signatures.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, vehicle inspection reports, mileage logs, and fuel receipts as required.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with loading and unloading activities as needed.
  • Maintain communication with dispatch, customers, and facility personnel regarding delivery status and potential delays.
  • Report accidents, injuries, vehicle defects, traffic violations, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Keep vehicles clean and presentable at all times.
  • Operate forklifts or material handling equipment when trained and authorized.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating a 26-foot flatbed, curtain side, or box truck preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) certification/qualification as required by company policy and applicable regulations.
  • Knowledge of safe cargo securement practices preferred.
  • Ability to read maps, follow directions, and use GPS navigation systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to address changing delivery schedules, traffic, and weather conditions.
  • Willingness to submit to background and drug screening.
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of professional driving, delivery, warehouse, or transportation experience preferred.
  • Experience operating flatbed or commercial vehicles is a plus.
Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents in English and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management. Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to inventory counts, measurements, delivery quantities, and mileage tracking.

Computer Skills

Basic computer and mobile device skills required. Experience using GPS navigation, electronic logging systems, delivery software, or handheld scanners is preferred.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and make sound decisions while working independently. Must be able to interpret written and verbal instructions and respond appropriately to changing situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, carry, and communicate effectively. The employee must frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with loading and unloading products. This position requires working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
