This position supports the organization's Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem, including Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Customer Journey Analytics (CJA), Adobe Target, and related customer data and personalization technologies. The role operates within a healthcare environment and supports data governance practices aligned with HIPAA requirements.

Purpose

The AEP Engineer is responsible for the technical implementation, ongoing operation, and continuous improvement of Adobe Experience Platform and associated data-driven products across the Adobe Experience Cloud environment. This role supports data engineering, governance, analytics, personalization, and platform optimization initiatives while partnering with technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

AEP Data Engineering & Governance

  • Design, implement, and maintain Experience Data Model (XDM) schemas and datasets supporting real-time and batch data ingestion

  • Configure and manage data ingestion pipelines utilizing batch and streaming ingestion capabilities, source connectors, Data Prep, and Dataflows

  • Build and maintain audience segments within Real-Time Customer Data Platform (RTCDP), including profile merge policies, identity graph configurations, and destination activations

  • Implement and enforce data governance policies, including data usage labels, consent policies, and retention rules aligned with HIPAA requirements and organizational standards

  • Monitor platform health, data quality, and pipeline performance; investigate and resolve ingestion failures, schema validation errors, and profile merge issues

  • Support identity resolution strategies through maintenance of identity namespaces and collaboration with data engineering teams on source system integrations

Customer Journey Analytics

  • Create and maintain Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) connections and data views

  • Configure field mappings, components, and governance settings aligned with AEP datasets

  • Build and maintain Workspace projects, calculated metrics, filters, and reporting components

  • Conduct cross-channel journey analysis to identify engagement patterns, drop-off points, and attribution insights

  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into CJA solutions and upstream AEP data sources

  • Maintain data dictionaries and document reporting definitions and known discrepancies

Adobe Target (Personalization & Testing)

  • Implement and manage A/B testing, multivariate testing, and experience targeting activities

  • Configure and maintain Target audiences, offers, and activities

  • Establish activity governance standards including naming conventions, quality assurance protocols, and archiving practices

  • Activate RTCDP audiences within Adobe Target to support personalized experiences

  • Validate audience delivery and activity performance against defined success metrics

Documentation, Training & Other Duties

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including data dictionaries, schema change logs, segment definitions, and platform runbooks

  • Participate in sprint ceremonies, intake processes, and cross-functional planning activities

  • Support onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer efforts

  • Represent platform dependencies, priorities, and capacity considerations during planning activities

Marginal or Periodic Functions

  • Evaluate and test new AEP, CJA, and Adobe Target features released through Adobe's release cycle

  • Conduct audits of audience segments, governance labels, consent configurations, and platform assets

  • Support data privacy and compliance reviews, including data subject access request activities

  • Participate in vendor-managed escalations and issue resolution activities

  • Assist with vendor evaluations, proof-of-concept initiatives, and technology assessments

  • Perform related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience working within Adobe Experience Platform or related Adobe Experience Cloud products

  • Experience with data ingestion, schema design, and data pipeline configuration in a marketing technology or customer data platform environment

  • Working knowledge of data governance concepts and HIPAA-compliant data handling practices

  • Experience with Customer Journey Analytics or comparable cross-channel analytics platforms

  • Experience with Adobe Target or comparable personalization and testing platforms

  • Ability to read and write basic JSON and understand REST API concepts

  • Experience with Adobe Launch (Adobe Tags), Web SDK, and Alloy.js implementations

  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager (AEMaaCS) and AEP integration workflows

  • Experience activating RTCDP audiences into Adobe Target and supporting end-to-end personalization activities

  • Working knowledge of AEP Query Service for data validation and segment verification

  • Strong written communication and technical documentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and priorities independently

  • Experience working within a healthcare organization or other regulated industry

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Agile or SAFe delivery methodologies

  • Experience supporting Adobe Analytics to Customer Journey Analytics migrations

  • Familiarity with Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO)

  • Basic Python or SQL scripting experience

  • Familiarity with data mesh, medallion architecture, or data lakehouse concepts
