THE ROLE:

As a CPU Core Performance Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to architect, design and model performance features in AMD's next-generation CPU core. You will work in the center of an experienced, skilled, and motivated engineering team with a track record of success. As a member of the CPU Core performance team, you will work on the leading edge of processor technology to define CPU Architecture and collaborate with RTL design, Verification and Post-Silicon teams to make AMD's ambitious future CPU roadmap a reality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive the architecture, design, modeling, and optimization of CPU core performance features using high-performance simulation environments.
• Develop and enhance CPU performance models to evaluate new microarchitectural features and guide architecture decisions.
• Analyze workloads, traces, and performance data to identify opportunities for CPU performance improvements.
• Build and maintain cycle-accurate CPU performance models and correlate results across architectural models, RTL, emulation, and silicon.
• Perform pre-silicon and post-silicon performance analysis to validate feature behavior and drive model accuracy.
• Lead performance correlation, root-cause analysis, and optimization efforts across the CPU development lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive execution to meet project milestones and customer commitments.
• Collaborate closely with architecture, design, verification, emulation, and silicon teams to deliver industry-leading CPU products.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Strong background in CPU architecture, microarchitecture, and performance modeling, with a proven track record of delivering innovative performance features.
• Experience modeling and analyzing modern CPU core performance across one or more pipeline domains.
• Demonstrated ability to identify performance bottlenecks, design experiments, analyze complex workloads, and drive performance improvements through data-driven insights.
• Proven success solving challenging architecture and microarchitecture problems from concept and feature definition through modeling, validation, and product delivery.
• Strong software engineering skills, including the use of modern development practices and AI-assisted tools to develop, validate, and optimize performance models.
• Experience working effectively across globally distributed teams and collaborating with cross-functional engineering organizations.
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and execution.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to engineers, architects, and leadership; publications and industry conference presentations are a plus.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering
