The Department of Integrative Biology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, University of Colorado Denver, invites applicants for a 60%-time Instructor position, for the 2026-27 academic year. We are looking for expertise to provide key courses for our new Human Biology and Biotechnology undergraduate major tracks and oversight for General Biology instructional labs. Courses taught may include Cell Biology and Molecular Biology Lab or other courses suitable for either track. The teaching workload will be the equivalent of 6 courses per academic year.

Instructor
What you will do:

  • Prepare and deliver lectures for Cell Biology
  • Develop and implement curriculum for General Biology and Molecular Biology labs
  • Coordinate teaching assistants
  • Work closely with Biology lab staff

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • M.S. in Biology or a related biomedical field.
  • One year experience teaching biology or human biology laboratory courses as sole instructor.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Ph.D. or biomedical doctorate (e.g., M.D., Pharm. D.) in a field related to biology or human biology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Good pedagogical skills.
  • Sensitivity to diversity and equity pedagogical issues.
  • Comfortable teaching large and small course sections.

Conditions of Employment

  • This position requires an onsite presence on campus 5 days a week.

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements

  • This position may be performed on site, and will require the ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $30,678 - $44,421.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
