Description

The Department of History at Tufts University (Medford, MA, USA; https://as.tufts.edu/history/) invites qualified candidates to apply for a tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the field of Indian History. The successful candidate will join the Department with a target start date of September 1, 2027. We welcome applicants working in any area of early modern and modern Indian history, including the history of the Indian diaspora.



The Department of History at Tufts consists of fifteen full-time faculty members. It offers MA programs in History and History & Museum Studies and maintains a Ph.D. program in South Asian Studies.


Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in History or a related field and demonstrate a strong research profile. The successful candidate will teach a 2-2 course load, supervise MA and Ph.D. research, and advise undergraduate and graduate students as needed. The Department of History places a high value on educational excellence. Candidates should therefore demonstrate a strong record in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels; a commitment to ongoing professional development as an instructor and mentor; and the ability to engage with diverse audiences and different pedagogies.
