Position Summary

The Front Load Driver is responsible for safely operating refuse collection vehicles on assigned and special routes to collect and transport waste materials. This position performs daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, completes routine truck cleaning and maintenance checks, and provides safe, efficient, and reliable service to customers. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support operations. Work is performed under the supervision of management, with performance evaluated through route observations, safety compliance, and ongoing communication regarding operational performance and service quality.

What You'll Do

As a Front Load Driver, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional service while operating safely and efficiently every day. You'll provide dependable waste collection services while representing Waste Pro with professionalism and a commitment to safety.



  • Safely operate a Front Load refuse collection truck on assigned commercial routes.
  • Service commercial customers by collecting and emptying front load containers using the truck's hydraulic forks and controls.
  • Open and close enclosure or corral doors as needed to access containers.
  • Move and position 3- and 4-yard containers on casters, weighing up to 600 pounds, for safe dumping when necessary.
  • Pick up loose debris around containers and clean up spills to leave customer locations clean and presentable.
  • Transport collected waste to designated landfill or disposal facilities.
  • Complete required route documentation, including productivity sheets, mileage records, fuel logs, driver logs (when required), Vehicle Condition Reports (DVIRs), and other operational paperwork.
  • Deliver Waste Pro's Distinguishably Different customer service by providing courteous, prompt, and professional service during every customer interaction.
  • Respond professionally to customer questions and report service concerns or customer issues to the appropriate internal departments.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the safe operation of the vehicle and compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Evaluate materials set out for collection and identify prohibited or hazardous materials to ensure safe handling and transportation.
  • Make sound decisions regarding safe loading practices while maintaining the safety of coworkers, customers, and the public.
  • Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body during landfill trips to maintain safe and efficient equipment operation.
  • Maintain a clean and professional vehicle by performing routine inspections, checking fluid levels, inspecting the engine compartment and undercarriage, monitoring tire pressure, and washing the truck's exterior on a regular basis.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, traffic laws, and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient operations.



Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:



  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) for the state in which the position operates.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Working knowledge of refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and state requirements governing commercial motor vehicle operators.
  • Ability to safely operate front load, side load, rear load, and roll-off refuse collection vehicles, including right-hand drive equipment where applicable.
  • Ability to operate hydraulic controls and manipulate heavy equipment control levers safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to follow assigned routes, schedules, and work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to accurately complete required paperwork, vehicle inspections, and service documentation.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English sufficiently to:


    • Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatch, and supervisors.
    • Read traffic signs, highway markings, and safety instructions.
    • Complete required reports and documentation legibly and accurately.

Other Job Responsibilities:

Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.

Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro .

Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Work Environment This position is primarily performed outdoors and requires working in a variety of environmental conditions. Employees should be comfortable working in:



  • Hot, cold, rainy, windy, humid, and other changing weather conditions
  • Environments with exposure to noise, dust, odors, fumes, vibrations, and moving mechanical equipment
  • Active commercial, industrial, and construction sites
  • Areas with heavy truck traffic and operating equipment while following all established safety procedures
  • A safety-sensitive work environment where adherence to company policies and DOT regulations is required
