Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adultsin Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offermedical detox aswell as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retiredmilitary service members in ourNorth Stonington location. Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180 bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. The Inn offers overnightaccommodations, full-meal service, indoor/outdoor recreation options, a workout room, andcomputercenter for all clients.We accept private insurance, state-funded plans and self-pay arrangements.

Job Summary:

The Medical Records Technician audits, maintains, files and stores Health Information ensuring documentation meets company, local, state and federal standards. Provides release of information to requestors.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Proficiently completes record audits. Checks records according to established criteria to ensure completeness, accuracy, and internal consistency while client is in facility and after discharge.
  • Maintains the control and preservation of records at location site. Coordinates with Director annual purge of medical records.
  • Monitors receipt of daily discharged records at location site.
  • Provides timely reports on the stats of any back log related to closed charts, record audits to Director.
  • Ensures all records are closed within 30 days of discharge.
  • Corresponds with any request for release of information to authorized persons, while ensuring all applicable confidentiality requirements within 30 days of receipt of ROI. Enters ROI's sent into log.
  • Responds to subpoenas in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adheres to and promotes HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality throughout the company.
  • Attends monthly department meetings.
  • Demonstrates compliance with Service Excellence standards at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director.

Qualifications

High school diploma required. Training or experience in general office duties. Two (2) years of prior medical records experience preferred; RHIT a definite plus.
