What to Expect
At Tesla, we move at warp speed, and Warehousing and Logistics are at the forefront of the evolution of Tesla's supply chain as we embark on transformational change across our Energy business. We have an ambitious vision and a complex portfolio of programs that enable Tesla's future.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Warehouse Launch Engineer to join our Process Engineering team. This role serves as the lead engineering resource supporting the planning, execution, and transition of Energy warehouses across the network. The Warehouse Launch Engineer will support end-to-end site launches, decommissions, and operational transitions - ensuring new facilities are equipped with the right parts, storage solutions, and systems from day one. This individual will bridge the gap between network strategy, supply chain, real estate, and operations to drive readiness, efficiency, and scalability across Tesla's Energy infrastructure.
What You'll Do
- Warehouse Launch & Transition: Serve as lead Engineer to support the end-to-end planning and execution of Energy warehouse launches, decommissions, and site transitions. Coordinate site readiness activities including storage setup, inventory migration, and operational handoff to ensure seamless continuity of service
- PFEP Development: Create and maintain comprehensive Plan for Every Part (PFEP) documentation for all parts transitioning into new warehouse locations. Establish proper storage methods, handling requirements, and replenishment parameters to support inventory setup and space planning
- Inventory Analysis & Disposition: Conduct detailed analysis of existing inventory across transitioning sites and collaborate with Material Demand Planning to identify and disposition stagnant, excess, or obsolete material prior to and during warehouse transitions
- Real Estate Justification: Develop concise, data-driven one-page justifications for the Real Estate team to evaluate and assess warehousing needs based on future network growth, demand forecasting, and regional service coverage gaps
- Space Planning & Design: Utilize AutoCAD and warehouse design principles to develop optimized floor plans and storage layouts for incoming inventory, ensuring efficient use of space and alignment with operational workflows
- Systems Integration: Leverage WMS, MFS, and SAP platforms to ensure inventory visibility, accurate material flow, and operational readiness across all warehouse transitions. Support system configuration and data validation during site go-lives
- Continuous Improvement: Apply 5S methodologies and lean principles to establish and sustain organized, efficient warehouse environments at new and transitioning sites. Develop standard work instructions and process documentation to drive consistency across the network
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Network Strategy, Supply Chain, Real Estate, and Operations teams to align on launch timelines, resource requirements, site readiness milestones, and post-launch performance targets
What You'll Bring
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Supply Chain, or related field)
or equivalent professional experience - Experience: 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations, supply chain engineering, project management, or a related field within energy, manufacturing, or industrial environments
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally to support
warehouse launches, site transitions, and network assessments - AutoCAD: Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD tools for warehouse layout design and space
planning - Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), MFS, and SAP or equivalent ERP platforms. Ability to configure, validate, and troubleshoot system data during site transitions
- 5S & Lean: Formal 5S training with demonstrated experience implementing lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices in a warehouse or supply chain environment
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, stakeholders, and deadlines in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with minimal supervision
