Inova Health Center - Oakville is looking for a dedicated Specialty Sonographer 1 to join the team. This role is a Varied Shift+Schedule: PRN (as needed) includes Sunday coverage on-call requirement.

Specialty Sonographer 1 Job Responsibilities:

  • The Specialty Sonographer 1 provides foundational ultrasound services under supervision, ensuring safe, high quality patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental policies. Focuses on developing technical skills, supporting routine and specialty exams, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment.
  • Performs routine ultrasound exams and assists with specialty procedures such as venous studies and Intra op ultrasound guided procedures under direct guidance.
  • Explains procedures, answers patient questions, and ensures comfort and safety using proper monitoring, side rails, and equipment positioning.
  • Identifies basic clinical concerns that may affect exam quality and promptly reports them to supervising staff.
  • Acquires diagnostic images following established protocols and records data and technical notes for physician interpretation.
  • Participates in department training, in services, and performance improvement activities.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Certification:
    • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required upon start.
    • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with at least two sonographer specialties (i.e., OB/GYN, Breast, AB) required within 12 months of hire
