Position Summary

Chilldyne is seeking a full-time Service Technician II. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance of liquid cooling equipment. You will provide necessary training and guidance to Level I technicians. Responsibilities will increase based on exposure to tasks, existing and ability to further develop troubleshooting skill set, and consistent and accurate completion of assignments. Liquid Cooling equipment includes but is not limited to the following: Cooling Distribution Units (CDU), Rack Manifolds, Cooling Manifolds and cold plates.

Location: Carlsbad, CA - Hybrid/In-Office

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Chilldyne liquid cooling systems, including Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) and related components. Maintain coolant quality by replacing filters, additives, tubing, belts, and other consumables, and by cleaning cold plates and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and replace defective liquid cooling system components, including CDUs, chambers, tanks, VFDs, compressors, electronic control boards, valves, tubing, manifolds, and cold plate assemblies.
  • Perform warranty service activities by independently inspecting, testing, and verifying system functionality. Conduct leak detection inspections and complete preventive maintenance in accordance with product specifications and service guidelines.
  • Execute equipment startup and commissioning activities, verify proper system operation, and provide customer training on equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and operating procedures.
  • Mentor and assist Level I Technicians through hands-on demonstrations of maintenance procedures, coolant quality management, troubleshooting techniques, and component installation activities.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining a professional appearance and communicating effectively with customers before, during, and after service visits. Clearly explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify and communicate potential sales and service opportunities to Service Sales Representatives and Service Management, including recommended repairs, upgrades, and additional maintenance services.
  • Support technician development by training and mentoring Level I Service Technicians in system maintenance, preventive service procedures, troubleshooting, and emergency repair activities.
  • Accurately document service activities, including work orders, billing information, inventory usage, timecards, service reports, and other required records in a timely manner.
  • Utilize computers and mobile technology to perform data entry, communicate via email, access web-based applications, generate reports, upload software and firmware to equipment controllers, and analyze system performance and trend data.
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards, policies, procedures, and housekeeping requirements while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Manage assigned work schedules and support the achievement of departmental productivity and budget objectives.
  • May provide day-to-day oversight of Level I Service Technicians, including training, work assignment coordination, performance guidance, and problem resolution in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of related experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Up to 60% - 80% travel is required to customer locations, including but not limited to Atlanta, GA;Albuquerque, NM; Rochester, New York, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Fremont, CA; and Austin, Texas.
  • EPA Universal Technician Certification.
  • Current First Aid/CPR card and OSHA 10 Confined space and LOTO Certification.
  • If you are Forklift certified, that is a plus.

This role offers an hourly range of $30.40 - $48.62 in California. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. The pay range will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
