Job Summary/Purpose All members of NRG's safety function will be expected to own safety, work to prevent incidents and seek to improve with the understanding that zero harm is possible. The Regional Safety Manager- Smart Home will be responsible for providing direct safety support to field installation and direct-to-home sales teams across their assigned region, developing and improving safety programs for a highly distributed, mobile workforce operating across variable work environments. The Regional Safety Manager will also be responsible for supporting the development of safety specialists and safety committees within their assigned region. There will be regular opportunities to demonstrate skills in change management, contract management and communications. This position will also be required to present to leadership the health of the program for which they are responsible, communicate any deficiencies identified and develop sustainable solutions to prevent future issues. It will be expected that the Regional Safety Manager engages with their peers to support their growth and build bench strength within the safety function. Job Duties/Responsibilities * Partner with field service installation and direct-to-home sales leadership to develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and promote a safety-over-production culture. * Conduct regular field safety audits, inspections and risk assessments across assigned territory; provide recommendations and strategic support to mitigate or eliminate workplace hazards. * Support field leadership through coaching, advising, and sharing identified trends and anticipated risks. * Attend field leadership meetings to provide safety updates and insights to the field. * Review incidents and identify data trends, and build action plans to reduce risk in the identified areas. * Serve as a change agent to achieve a zero-injury safety culture within the region. * Support and encourage the growth and development of safety professionals across the organization through coaching and mentorship. * Manage the implementation, maintenance, validation, and revision of assigned safety and occupational health management system components. * Assist with the development and delivery of safety training for field and sales personnel. * Support incident investigations as well as corrective action development and action closure, and ensure recordkeeping is maintained. * Develop safety flashes, operating experience bulletins, vendor business cases, and recordability determination reports * Lead and/or participate in internal and external special project teams with the purpose of continuous improvement. * Monitor and evaluate changes in applicable Occupational Safety and Health regulations, consensus standards, and industry best practices to ensure policies, procedures, and work practices remain current. Working Conditions * This position is hybrid, requiring office attendance Mon- Thursday, in Lehi, UT, working from home on Fridays. * Work overtime and non-standard working hours as directed. * Ability to travel 25-50% of the time. Regular engagement in the field, as well as with peers and operational partners is expected to build bench strength and advance Vivint's commitment to protecting the people who power our customer experience. * Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required. * Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment. * May entail lifting (<50lbs), climbing, walking and standing for extended periods of time. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Education: Bachelor's Required or equivalent work experience Minimum Experience: 7+ years industry/safety experience with at least 4 years experience in automation, technology, or managing a distributed workforce. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities * Experience driving safety performance and culture with dispersed workforces in highly variable work environments * Navigate ambiguity, develop action plans, and work through solutions autonomously. * Ability to effectively coach and mentor. * Thorough understanding of applicable OSHA regulations and industry guidelines. * Experience working within safety and occupational health management systems. * Experience with change management and project management. * Ability to observe and engage effectively with employees and contract partners. * Investigation/RCA with tools such as TapRoot, Cause Mapping, Fishbone, Five whys, etc. * Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends utilizing tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, SAS, Intelex, Airtable, Tableau, Asana, Sharepoint, etc. * Demonstrative knowledge of AI tools and applications relevant to the role. * Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Excellent organizational skills. * Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required. * Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals at all levels of the organization. * Experience leveraging AI integrations and app development technology for safety improvements. * Leverage digital tools, technology platforms, and data-driven insights to identify risk trends and drive preventive action at scale. * Digital/virtual training content development. * Technical Writing. * Safety Management Systems (i.e. ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, ANSI/ASSP Z10). * Ability to develop and set short- and long-term strategic goals to sustain improvement. Any Certificates, Licenses, etc.: ASP/CSP/COSS/OHST/CHST/PMP or equivalent. NRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
