Behm Consulting is assisting Classic Gears & Machining in the search for an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join the team. Opportunities are available on both 1st and 2nd Shift.

*2nd Shift Premium = 10% of hourly rate Position Summary

As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you'll be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to manufacture precision components that meet customer specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work while supporting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC lathe equipment to produce precision-machined parts.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, job travelers, and manufacturing specifications.

  • Select tooling, establish machine setups, and determine the most efficient machining process.

  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.

  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.

  • Work closely with fellow machinists and production personnel to support safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Work overtime as needed to support customer delivery schedules.

Qualifications
  • Three to five years of CNC machining experience, preferably operating and setting up CNC lathes.

  • Experience programming and setting up CNC equipment.

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.

  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.

  • Strong math, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
