Transmission & Substation Project Manager

Cianbro's Transmission & Substation Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of high-voltage transmission and substation projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with technical and regulatory requirements.

This position provides overall project leadership, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing project controls, mitigating risks, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Utilize strong leadership, communication, and project management skills to drive successful project outcomes and support the reliable delivery of critical power infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:

• Project Planning & Execution: Develop detailed project plans focusing on scope, schedule, and cost; lead teams through conceptual design, procurement, and construction phases
• Team Coordination: Manage multidisciplinary teams including engineering, land, environmental, legal, regulatory, procurement, and construction resources
• Budget & Schedule Management: Control project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure adherence to timelines; prepare RFPs to source engineering, survey, geotechnical, and construction services
• Risk Management: Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies; provide regular progress, issue, and risk updates to management
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure projects meet regulatory, environmental, and safety standards; uphold company safety pledges
• Stakeholder Communication: Notify stakeholders promptly if budget, schedule, or risk thresholds are exceeded

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Experience: 3+ years managing electric power projects, preferably with high-voltage transmission lines, cables, and substations
• Skills: Strong project management, scope/schedule/cost control, risk assessment, and documentation abilities; ability to travel (often 25%)
• Certifications: PMP or similar project management certification is often preferred.
