The Role in Brief:

Proofreader (Temporary)

The Proofreader (Temporary) is responsible for ensuring the written accuracy of all partner and corporate communications. This role identifies spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors while ensuring formatting is accurate and in accordance with our partners' specific style guidelines.

This role is based in Richmond, VA. This is a temporary role that will last through December 31, 2026.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Thoroughly review campaigns for spelling, grammar, formatting, and school/EAB style guidelines, ensuring timely and accurate task execution leading to error-free deployments
  • Review digital proofs for paper and online campaigns
  • Exercise strong editorial judgment
  • Act as a grammar and style resource for other internal departments
  • Pivot across multiple lines of business that the proofreader team serves (Enroll360, Adult Learner Recruitment, Advancement Marketing Services, Web Visibility & Strategy, and Corporate)
  • Maintain and update program documentation
  • Collaborate/Coordinate with others on proofreading projects as needed to receive necessary documents, ask clarifying questions, provide direction, and manage workload expectations



Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree: concentration in English or Journalism preferred
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with ability to detect minute errors
  • Excellent vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills
  • Experience working with style sheets/guides/manuals
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills, with ability to work on multiple jobs under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well in a group and collaborate with others



Ideal Qualifications:



  • Experience marking up PDF proofs in Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and AP Stylebook
  • Experience working with marketing communications
  • Experience with online project management software (Workfront preferred)

Compensation:

The anticipated starting compensation for this role is $18 - $20 per hour. Actual compensation varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting compensation range for their role.

This opening is not eligible for visa sponsorship at this time; EAB will thus consider candidates who possess U.S. work authorization that does not require employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
