Description

The GSE Mechanic / Facility Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of ground support equipment (GSE), fuel farm assets, and facility infrastructure. This position performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems while supporting facility upkeep and maintenance. Working closely with the Facility/GSE Manager, Operations Manager, and Line Service team, this role helps maintain operational readiness, regulatory compliance, safety standards, and a first-class customer experience.


Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Maintenance & Repair



  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair defects on ground support equipment, including diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and establish maintenance schedules for the site's fleet of GSE and fuel farm equipment.
  • Respond to equipment failures and perform repairs on out-of-service or downed equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of parts, supplies, fluids, and tools to support maintenance operations.
  • Operate a variety of aircraft ground support equipment, including tugs, tow bars, GPUs, air start units, belt loaders, LAV carts, forklifts, and related equipment.
  • Perform quality control inspections and oversee maintenance practices in accordance with company standards and applicable regulations.


Facility Maintenance & Operations



  • Perform routine facility maintenance and repairs, including minor plumbing, HVAC, lighting, hangar door, asphalt, concrete, and general building maintenance.
  • Conduct daily upkeep of facilities, including cleaning restrooms, common areas, and removal of trash.
  • Complete facility improvement projects to maintain buildings and grounds in excellent condition.
  • Replace light bulbs, maintain floors, and perform other custodial and facility maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Ensure facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.


Safety, Compliance & Quality



  • Comply with and promote adherence to all company safety, security, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Support a culture of safety through routine inspections, audits, shift briefings, training participation, safety meetings, and use of the Baldwin Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and equipment reliability.


Customer Service & Team Collaboration



  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal customers, business partners, and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with the Facility/GSE Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager, and Line Service team to support operational objectives.
  • Provide responsive support to maintenance-related requests and operational priorities.
  • Assist management with special projects and additional assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Three (3) years of experience in ground support equipment maintenance, facility maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance practices, including plumbing, HVAC, hangar doors, asphalt/concrete surfaces, and general building systems.
  • Ability to operate various types of aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and results.



Working conditions and physical demands for this role



  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, windy, and wet environments.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier items with assistance.
  • Exposure to aircraft noise, moving equipment, mechanical hazards, fuels, oils, and cleaning chemicals.


Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as operational needs require.

Modern Aviation's Pay Range

$28.00 - $31.00/hr. + benefits.



The Modern Aviation pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
