Senior Electrical Engineer

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Worley, you will provide technical leadership across complex EPC projects, driving high-quality engineering solutions from concept through execution. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage directly with customers, and contribute to the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of critical infrastructure and industrial facilities.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides advanced electrical engineering expertise and technical leadership in support of medium and large-scale projects. This role is responsible for the successful planning, design, analysis, and execution of electrical engineering deliverables while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, project objectives, safety requirements, schedules, and budgets. You will serve as a trusted technical resource, mentor engineering professionals, and help advance operational excellence across Worley's project portfolio.

This position is based in Englewood, Colorado and follows a hybrid work schedule. Team members are expected to regularly collaborate in the office while maintaining flexibility to support project and customer needs.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the electrical engineering scope for medium and large EPC projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering and project execution.
  • Providing technical direction and oversight to engineers and designers while promoting engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Developing project plans, estimating engineering hours, assigning work, prioritizing activities, and monitoring progress against schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinating closely with project management, discipline leaders, customers, procurement teams, and construction personnel to support successful project delivery.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving electrical engineering deliverables including:
    • Load lists
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Power distribution system designs
    • Grounding studies and layouts
    • Area classifications
    • Equipment specifications and datasheets
    • Electrical schematics
    • Technical requisitions and bid evaluations
    • Power system studies and calculations
  • Performing electrical engineering analyses including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, harmonics, arc flash, grounding, transient stability, insulation coordination, and electromagnetic transient studies.
  • Supporting the specification, selection, and procurement of high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and associated systems.
  • Ensuring engineering deliverables meet applicable quality standards, customer specifications, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying project risks and developing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions that support safety, reliability, and operational performance.
  • Supporting Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimating activities and contributing technical input during project planning and execution phases.
  • Providing mentorship, coaching, and technical development opportunities for junior engineers and designers.
  • Supporting construction activities, plant commissioning efforts, and start-up requirements as needed.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, particularly in Colorado and California.
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience within EPC, industrial, energy, chemicals, resources, power, infrastructure, or related project-based environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience executing electrical engineering scopes on medium to large capital projects.
  • Expertise in electrical system design, analysis, and power distribution for industrial facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEC, and other applicable electrical engineering standards and codes.
  • Experience developing grounding systems, area classification studies, single-line diagrams, power distribution designs, and motor control drawings.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical protection systems, coordination studies, and power system performance analysis.
  • Experience conducting arc flash studies, AC mitigation analyses, and complex electrical calculations.
  • Proficiency with power system modeling software such as ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent platforms, with ETAP experience preferred.
  • Experience reviewing technical vendor documentation, evaluating electrical equipment packages, and supporting procurement activities.
  • Strong project management awareness with the ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and engineering priorities.
  • Familiarity with electrical construction methods, installation practices, commissioning activities, and plant start-up processes.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and customer organizations.

Salary Range for Colorado applicants

$111,845 - $164,478 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and market factors.
