THE POSITION

As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, you will play a key role in repairing and maintaining park structures and equipment. This position gives you the chance to apply your knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, mechanical work, and more. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role performs skilled journey level work across multiple trades to maintain and repair park buildings, facilities, and equipment. The tasks support safe operations and ensure that park structures and systems remain in good working condition. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Skilled Trades Work: Perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, welding, and mechanical tasks for park facilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead other workers during maintenance and construction projects
  • Cost Estimation: Contact vendors, gather price information, and estimate labor and material needs
  • Equipment Operation: Operate light and heavy equipment and complete required reports and maintenance checks
  • Grounds Care: Maintain turf, trails, roads, and landscaping through pruning, planting, mowing, and snow removal
  • General Maintenance: Clean facilities, store tools properly, and assist with treatment plant operations and other assigned tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment with no health care benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 atwhich time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. During the peak season from Memorial Day to Labor Day, weekend work will be required with days off being 2 consecutive days midweek. The remainder of the season (Spring and Fall) will be on a Monday - Friday schedule.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
