THE POSITION

The Plumber 1 for the Department of Human Services (DHS) at the Selinsgrove Center plays an essential role in keeping the facility functional. This position allows you to apply your hands-on skills while supporting a wide range of plumbing systems. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports plumbing operations across the Selinsgrove Center forty-six building campus and helps maintain reliable building systems. As a Plumber 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Plumbing Repair: Install, rebuild, and repair pumps, valves, steam traps, generators, mixing valves, circulator pumps, thermostats, and related systems
  • Pipe Installation: Install potable, wastewater, and pneumatic piping systems using copper, iron, PVC, CPVC, and other types of pipe and tubing
  • Equipment Maintenance: Overhaul and repair housekeeping equipment, dietary equipment, dishwashers, and related commercial and residential systems
  • Fixture Work: Install, maintain, and repair sinks, drains, water lines, wastewater lines, screen boxes, urinals, drinking fountains, and related fixtures
  • Utility Support: Assist with trench digging, perform hydrant work, and support asbestos abatement participation
  • Operational Tasks: Work from blueprints and instructions, estimate labor and materials, monitor supplies, and use various power and hand tools

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work a rotating schedule.
  • Overtime and travel as needed
  • Free parking
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
