Scope of Position

The Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) / Workers Compensation Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of workers' compensation cases across U.S. and Canadia. This role ensures timely, compliant, and cost-effective case management while supporting injured employees through recovery and safe return-to-work. The COHN collaborates closely with plant leadership, safety teams, HR business partners, third-party administrators (TPAs), and healthcare providers to reduce injury-related risk and improve overall occupational health outcomes. In addition, this role will be responsible for supporting day-to-day occupational health medical and first aid for the Fort Worth operations and serve as a backup for medical triage across the Americas for the company Occupational Health Professional.

This position reports to the VP, EHS. This role is onsite and is based in Ft. Worth, TX.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary case manager for all occupational injury and illness claims across company sites.

  • Coordinate medical care, referrals, and follow-up appointments to ensure appropriate and timely treatment.

  • Communicate regularly with employees, supervisors, TPAs, and medical providers to track progress and maintain accurate case documentation.

  • Evaluate medical reports and provider recommendations to determine work restrictions, transitional duty options, and readiness for full duty.

  • Monitor claim status, costs, and trends to identify opportunities for early intervention and claim resolution.

  • Support OSHA recordkeeping accuracy by ensuring proper classification of cases and timely reporting.

  • Develop and oversee individualized RTW plans that align with medical guidance and operational needs.

  • Partner with site leadership to identify suitable transitional duty assignments.

  • Track employee progress and adjust RTW plans as needed to support safe reintegration.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state workers' compensation regulations, OSHA requirements, and company policies.

  • Maintain confidential medical records in accordance with HIPAA and corporate standards.

  • Prepare and submit required documentation to TPAs, insurers, and regulatory agencies.

  • Provide clinical expertise for workplace injury assessment, triage, and first aid.

  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.

  • Support health surveillance programs, ergonomic assessments, and wellness initiatives.

  • Deliver training on injury prevention, early reporting, and safe work practices.

  • Track and analyze injury trends, claim costs, lost-time metrics, and RTW performance.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for leadership, highlighting risks, patterns, and improvement opportunities.

  • Recommend strategies to reduce injury frequency, severity, and claim duration.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.

  • COHN or COHN-S certification (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe).

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in occupational health nursing, workers' compensation case management, or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, state workers' compensation laws, and manufacturing safety practices.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and case-coordination skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or multi-site operations.

  • Familiarity with TPAs, insurance carriers, and medical provider networks.

  • Training in ergonomics, incident investigation, or safety management systems.

Working Conditions

While performing the job duties, you will be working onsite in a manufacturing facility. You will be required to work at the Company's Ft. Worth, TX location. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

  • Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor.

  • Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
