Job Summary

The Electrical Assembly Test Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, installing, and testing electrical and electromechanical products in a manufacturing environment. This role requires interpreting blueprints and wiring diagrams, building complex electrical assemblies, troubleshooting product issues, and ensuring all products meet quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial electrical assembly, conduit installation, and electrical testing, and is committed to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Job Responsibilities



  • Assemble, wire, and test electrical components, including relays, switches, transformers, circuit breakers, and terminal blocks.
  • Install completed electrical assemblies into cabinets, enclosures, and switch rack systems.
  • Lay out and position electrical components to ensure efficient assembly, installation, and future maintenance.
  • Build switch rack assemblies, including bus fabrication, enclosure construction, component mounting, conduit installation, and complete system wiring.
  • Perform functional testing of completed assemblies and troubleshoot electrical or mechanical issues as needed.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings to complete assemblies accurately.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies and communicate recommended corrections to engineering.
  • Utilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, power tools, gauges, and electrical testing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Cross-train in additional manufacturing processes to support production demands.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost savings, and process efficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in complex electrical assembly and testing required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of electro-mechanical assembly experience, including conduit installation, threading, and piping.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician certification, associate degree or technical certification in an electrical field, military electrical training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Third-year electrical apprentice with significant industrial assembly experience may be considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, mechanics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment, measuring devices, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required prior to start.
  • Prior experience building power distribution or explosion-proof equipment is preferred.


Education



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician certification, military electrical training, or equivalent technical training accepted.


Work Experience



  • Minimum of 2 years of complex electrical assembly and testing experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial electro-mechanical assembly experience required.
  • Experience building electrical control panels, switchgear, power distribution equipment, or similar industrial electrical products preferred.
